Improving Mental Health 8 week course
The Improving Mental Health Group has been running at Stubbylee for over two years now, successfully helping attendees to feel stronger and better-able to cope with life’s difficulties, through learning why we feel what we do, how to think about things differently and finding out tips and tricks to relax and sleep better.
CONTENTS
The 8 week course will be broken down into 6 topics:
1. Getting the Basics Right: Looking at sleep, nutrition and activity.
2. Stress & Anxiety
3. Depression & Low mood
4. 5 Ways of Wellbeing; including a visit from our Social Prescriber Debbie Dewhurst
5. Identity, Self-Esteem & Boundaries
6. Managing Emotions; including building a personalised wellbeing toolkit
COURSE AIMS:
v To improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of participants.
v To offer participants the opportunity think differently.
v To enhance the confidence & self-esteem of participants.
v To help participants connect with family, friends & other support around them.
v To encourage participants to acknowledge & talk about their feelings.
v To give practical solutions to learn how to manage emotions & learn how to relax.
v To raise awareness of accessible and affordable activities and opportunities to support long term well-being.
v To increase individuals knowledge about themselves and how to gain confidence in self managing challenging situations/emotions and states of mind.
